When Jesse Wanda received the <\/span>Vice-Chancellor\u2019s Run<\/a>\u00a0Scholarship at Strathmore University, it opened a new chapter in his academic journey. A<\/span>\u00a0Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering<\/a>\u00a0student from Kiminini, Western Kenya, Jesse is making the most of the opportunity to grow both academically and personally.<\/span><\/div>\n

The scholarship eased the financial burden of university education, allowing Jesse to focus on his studies and engage fully in campus life. He is actively involved in the debate club, where he hones his critical thinking skills, and regularly spends time in the library and on the football field at the Sports Complex, building friendships and teamwork. His experience reflects the kind of all-rounded development Strathmore University encourages in its scholars.<\/p>\n

For him, the scholarship lifted an enormous burden from his parents\u2019 shoulders and positioned him as a role model for his younger siblings. \u201cMy sisters now see what\u2019s possible through education,\u201d he shares. This generational impact is the beginning of the ripple effect created by the VC Scholarship.<\/p>\n

His determination to pay it forward makes Jesse\u2019s journey particularly inspiring. He spends time mentoring his siblings, applying lessons from his own experiences to guide them. Looking ahead, he plans to volunteer with Strathmore\u2019s\u00a0Macheo<\/a>\u00a0programme, extending his mentorship to other young students. Jesse is currently preparing for Service-Based Learning projects where he will apply his engineering knowledge to benefit underserved communities, starting with teaching math in local schools back in Kiminini.<\/p>\n

Jesse\u2019s long-term vision reflects the true value of the scholarship. He aims to pursue advanced degrees and eventually create educational opportunities for others. \u201cStrathmore didn\u2019t just give me an education, it gave me wings,\u201d he says. \u201cNow I want to help others soar too.\u201d His message to scholarship supporters is profound: \u201cYour investment doesn\u2019t just change one life; it transforms entire families and communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

This future engineer embodies Strathmore\u2019s mission of developing leaders who drive positive change. Jesse is preparing to make his mark on the world through classroom learning, extracurricular activities, and a growing commitment to service. His story demonstrates how strategic educational support can unlock potential that benefits society beyond university walls.<\/p>\n
